Grey suede shoes
Monday, June 11th, 2007Quick story from Star Wars Celebration IV: It was late in the afternoon on Friday, and I had just been relieved from volunteering for Kenny Baker. The autograph lines for the ‘bigger’ celebs weren’t too long, so I started with The Man himself, Jeremy Bulloch. As I’m sure you know, Jeremy portrayed Boba Fett, bounty hunter without equal.

He lived up to his reputation for being very friendly to the fans. Jump forward 20 minutes, I’m waiting in line for Peter Mayhew, the original Wookiee himself, Chewbacca. Just as I’m walking up to the table with my two items to get signed, I look to my right and see that Ken the Elvis Trooper is at Jeremy Bulloch’s table. Now Ken is a staple of sci-fi conventions, but this was the first time I had seen him in person. So Bulloch gets up and starts doing a little Elvis-style soft shoe, swaying his hips back and forth! Then Peter Mayhew looks over and yells out, “I think Bulloch’s got his vibrator turned up too high!” Brilliant. By the time I had gotten my picture with Peter, Jeremy had wandered over to put in a guest appearance in the background of my photo with Chewie!

It was one of those moments I so wish I could have videotaped.
This is likely the last post you’ll read from me for a few weeks. On Thursday I’m headed out to St. Thomas to finally tie the knot with my lovely bride-to-be, Mary. In the time I’ve been gone I’ve accumulated a number of very nice responses for the nameitjad campaign. I’ll have lots to show you starting in July!
