Hey, isn’t this site supposed to be about getting Star Wars celebrities to support the campaign to get something from the upcoming Star Wars TV show to be named ‘Jad’?  You’re darn right it is.

I’m pleased to present this note from Return of the Jedi modelmaker Robert Bovill.  Short and sweet, nothing wrong with that!

And here we have a lovely (and longer) note from another Episode VI contributor, John Altman, who portrayed one of Jedi’s Rebel pilots.

Rest assured, dear reader, the campaign chugs along.

In other news, I had a terrific time this weekend at the monthly meeting of the San Diego Star Wars Society.  Even though I’m new to the group, I truly felt like I was among ‘my people’ and was amazed at all the upcoming events they’ve got planned.  I’m already in for a trip in September up to Petaluma, CA, for a private tour of Rancho Obi-Wan, the secret lair of Star Wars Uber-Collector, Steve Sansweet.  Steve writes a column about collecting in the Star Wars Insider (fan club magazine), and actually answered not one but TWO of my letters, in issues 31 and 43.  Check your libraries, true believers, I’m in there!  The Rancho tour will give me a chance to thank Steve personally for answering my letters, and I might even drop a few nameitjad.com cards in his pocket.  Stay tuned…

It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

The “it” in question is a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California, and it is quite simply THE vehicle in which to drive from Iowa to your new home in San Diego, CA.

Of course, Mary and I didn’t have one. We had our 2001 Honda CRV and our 2005 Toyota Prius, with optional screaming cat accessory. And by damn, we drove straight across this big hot dusty country.
Cars across America

The states fell behind us like dominoes. Iowa, gone. Nebraska, down. Colorado, dust. Utah. Dear, sweet Utah. If you’ve ever seen a Roadrunner cartoon, you simply must drive through Utah.

drive through Utah

A night in Las Vegas; the buffet at The Bellagio, digested while watching the famous fountain dance to Sinatra’s Fly Me To The Moon (one of our favorite dance songs). 1901.7 miles later, and we were home, with naught but our sleeping bags to rest upon. The moving truck has now arrived and we’re living out of boxes, but we say, let it be. It’s time to enjoy this fantastic climate, these ample entertainment & dining options. Trivial details (like employment) will fall into place, in good time.
