Real life.
Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007As some of you know, my wife and I live in La Mesa, CA, which is adjacent to San Diego. We have been keeping a close eye on the fires, but as of this writing, we are still safe at home. It does not look like we will have to evacuate, but we are prepared to go just in case.
We have been watching some stunning footage on the local news. Several National Guard helicopters are dropping buckets of water nonstop on the northwest front of the Harris Fire. They refill from the Sweetwater Reservoir, and let me tell you I am thrilled to have that resource so close to us.
It is a surreal sensation to watch the flames on the news and see the Harris Fire smoke in the distance, but to have clear blue sky above us. Our hearts go out to those who have lost so much during these last few days.
